Job Posting: Director of Product Development
Join RigCraftor and help transform the transportation industry.
About RigCraftor
At RigCraftor, we design and manufacture innovative solutions that improve safety, efficiency, and longevity for workers across the logistics chain.
Our mission is clear: to make the transportation industry safer and enable logistics professionals to reach their full potential.
We are experiencing strong growth and are at a key moment—structuring our product development and strengthening alignment between R&D, procurement, and production to support our expansion.
Your Mission
We’re not looking for someone to “manage products.”
We’re looking for someone who takes ownership of product development—and understands that product goes far beyond design.
Your role is to structure product development, lead the R&D team, and ensure that what we design can be efficiently manufactured, at the best cost, and without compromising quality.
You are responsible for aligning customer needs, what we develop, and what we are able to deliver.
During the maternity leave of our COO, you will also step in to oversee two key functions: procurement/purchasing and logistics/customer service.
You won’t need to rebuild everything—but you will need to quickly understand, make decisions, and keep things moving.
Upon the COO’s return, your focus will shift entirely to product and the R&D department.
Here, you don’t just coordinate—you make decisions that directly impact our products, our costs, and our ability to grow.
If you’re comfortable with complexity, able to lead strong teams, and deliver despite constraints, you’ll fit right in.
Your Responsibilities
- Oversee and structure the R&D department (product development lead, designers, engineers, etc.)
- Manage and develop a team of managers, including experienced and strong personalities
- Ensure product development performance (timelines, quality, feasibility, costs)
- Ensure alignment between R&D, procurement, and production from the design phase
- Understand and integrate manufacturing constraints into product decisions
- Collaborate closely with the Supply Chain Specialist & Buyer
- Understand and optimize the realities of outsourced production (factories, quality, lead times, international challenges)
- Identify and resolve operational and organizational issues quickly
- Actively contribute to strategic decisions and company growth
- During the COO’s leave: oversee procurement, logistics, and customer service functions
- Roll up your sleeves when needed—because at RigCraftor, everyone contributes
Your Profile
You are able to operate across technical, operational, and field realities.
You understand both product development and the constraints of production and supply chain.
You are comfortable leading strong teams.
You know how to challenge, align, and move things forward. You make decisions, take ownership of outcomes, and are able to deliver in a demanding environment.
You can step in quickly, understand existing systems, and maintain control.
You identify problems early—but more importantly, you find practical solutions and execute them.
What We’re Looking For
- 8 to 15 years of experience in product development, with strong exposure to manufacturing realities
- Experience managing multidisciplinary teams (R&D, procurement, production)
- Strong understanding of product development and industrialization
- Experience with international supply chains and outsourced manufacturing
- Ability to align technical decisions with cost and production constraints
- Proven ability to structure and scale an organization
- Strong leadership and ability to manage strong personalities
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Strategic mindset with strong execution capability
- Ability to thrive in a fast-changing environment
- Strong communication and prioritization skills
- Bilingual French/English (advanced level required)
What We Offer
We offer a role where you build something tangible and where your impact is visible.
You will structure a key function within the company, make important decisions, and directly see the results of your work on our products, growth, and performance.
You’ll work with an ambitious team in a fast-moving environment where ideas are tested quickly and results matter.
You’ll have autonomy, trust, and the latitude to do things right—without micromanagement.
And yes, compensation is competitive.
Location
Hybrid remote work available. Our offices are located in Quebec City.
